For his part, Marty has always loved Kubrick’s work and connected with the filmmaker’s odd-man-out personality. Marty wanted to honor the great director's peculiar worldview because Kubrick was shunned by his peers at a young age and was known as "the boy in the playground that nobody wanted to play with."
